Veteran Television Producer, Director and Programmer James Abee Named as Vice President, Programming

LOS ANGELES, January 18, 2010 — Newly formed be Network, an HD lifestyle network dedicated to yoga and wellness, has announced its first original production, ‘A Moment of Wellness”, which it will begin distributing to local TV stations, websites, and mobile carriers at the upcoming NATPE 2010, being held January 2627 at the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas.  In a related announcement, the company’s President and CEO Mark Goldman has named industry veteran James Abee as Vice President, Programming of the new lifestyle network.

Abee, who has extensive experience as a television producer, director and programmer, has served as Goldman’s creative partner in the formation of be. Both Goldman and Abee will represent the network at NATPE.

James has played an integral role in securing talent, developing the programming strategy and overseeing initial production of ‘A Moment of Wellness’,” says Goldman. “James is an incredibly talented creative executive with extensive real life experience with yoga and wellness principles.”

Abee most recently served as Director, International Programming & Special Projects for Current TV, an Emmy award-winning multi-platform cable TV network co-founded by Al Gore and Joel Hyatt. Prior to his career as a media executive, Abee, who studied drama and psychology at the University of Tennessee, spent several years in India practicing yoga and meditation. In that time, Abee gained a broad knowledge of Eastern body, mind and spirit philosophies, ranging from hatha yoga to Chinese medicine and ayurveda. His experience in both the entertainment and wellness industries has been essential in the creation of be.

At NATPE, be will offer a series of 90-second news inserts, ‘A Moment of Wellness,’ created to promote well-being in areas including diet and nutrition, yoga and fitness, alternative medicine, relationships and rejuvenation. be plans to gain distribution of the segments via morning, noon and early evening newscasts, catering to the wellness industry’s core demo of women ages 3065. Stations subscribing to ‘A Moment of Wellness’ will receive 12 high-quality HD inserts per month that can also be featured on the station’s website.

Maya Fiennes – Popular Yoga instructor, concert musician, and breakout author will address some of the common ailments affecting millions of people such as lower back pain, thyroid and adrenal gland issues, digestion problems, anti-aging and insomnia, by demonstrating specific Kundalini yoga postures that can provide relief.
